On February 5^th “Kids Community” of Abundant Life Unity Church launched the next phase of our amazing Youth Program! Our new youth program now has two learning areas, one for school age children 6 and over and the other for those 5 and under.  This is not be “Sunday School,” but rather an interactive time for spiritual enrichment and sharing designed for and about the children.

Our Youth and Family mission statement reads: “As the Light of God, we are fun, loving teachers of Truth. We are here to empower children, young people and families to discover their Divine spark.” Consistent with our mission, our program is using a curriculum entitled “Building Community,” a six part exploration into building and strengthening a feeling of community, and belonging to a spiritual family. The theme of each part is as follows: “Who Am I?” “Oneness,” “Working Together in Community,” “The Sacredness of Prayer,” “Being Inclusive,” and “We Are All Connected.” The children will be participating in the formulation of the program’s structure, their roles within it and also in coming up with a permanent name for the program that resonates with the community they’re building together.

Our “teachers” serve as guides for the children toward self discovery and sharing a space for expression, acceptance and belonging. Overview information of each week’s theme and activity is made available for parents (and everyone) so the children’s experience can be carried over and integrated with their families at home and with the Abundant Life Unity community in general.

Abi Poynter provides care and creative fun for the youngest children. She also introduces them to spiritual discovery and prayer. For our school age kids, we have a roster of volunteer teachers led by Laura Forman. As we grow there will be further age regrouping, and our vision also holds for developing a plan for teen/young adults.

This is just the beginning of a very exciting journey to include youth and families in the amazing growth and expanding Light and Love that is Abundant Life Unity Church. We are grateful to all our volunteers and supporters in getting this program launched, and openly welcome all who come forward to participate as we grow this amazing and wonderful expression of our vision.
