During Holy Week we have the opportunity to reflect and contemplate as we prepare ourselves for the celebration of Life on Easter morning. After our Palm Sunday Fellowship Feast luncheon, we kick off Holy week with a variety of events. Here is the schedule:

On Tuesday night, April 3, all moviegoers are invited to view this year’s pre-Easter movie, Jesus Christ Superstar, a 1973 movie adapted from the 1971 rock opera by Andrew Lloyd Webber, with lyrics by Tim Rice.

We are grateful to Jim and Jane Ware who are generously offering their home at 4122 Three Lakes Dr. in Long Grove for our movie viewing. Plan to arrive at 6:30PM with your own dinner. The movie will begin at 7PM and we will have a brief discussion afterwards. Sign up in the hallway after service.

On Thursday night, April 5, we will have our first Maundy Thursday Communion service at 7PM in the sanctuary of First Church of Christ Scientist, 155 Deerfield Road in Deerfield. This will be a meditative and contemplative service as we prepare ourselves to symbolically awaken to the Divine Substance and Life Force of Spirit.

On Good Friday night, April 6 at 7PM in the annex of First Church of Christ Scientist, 155 Deerfield Road, feel free to drop in as Prayer Chaplain, Molly Hansen, leads us in prayer, contemplation and metaphysical interpretation of the last words of Jesus found in the books of Matthew, Mark, Luke and John. This is a change to the original daytime schedule.

On Sunday morning, April 8, join us for our special Easter Celebration service at 10:30AM at the Patty Turner Center. Contemporary celebratory music performed our new band, The Grateful Living, will complement our uplifting and life-affirming message about the Great Demonstration, the eternal nature of Life and the resurrection of the human spirit. Weather-permitting, the children will enjoy an outdoor Easter Egg Hunt.
